Once the weapons operator pulls the trigger on a “Fire and Forget” missile, there’s nothing left to be done. “Prescribe and Forget” is a metaphor for those who receive psychological medication, with little or no guidance about what the drug is supposed to do.

Psychological drugs tend to quiet the chatter in the patient’s head, however, the opposite can happen, whereby the drug will turn up the volume, instead of turning it down.

Those taking psychological drugs may not know what the drug is supposed to do; leaving the unsuspecting patient vulnerable to a chatter-driven onslaught that can make them feel…like they’re going crazy. If patients are not educated to recognize this “turning-up of the volume” is a symptom of the drug, the patient may apply their own permanent cure to make the noise go away.
